Highclere Castle as well as being the location for filming of Downton Abbey, has been home to the Carnarvan family since 1679 and is steeped in history, including a fascinating connection with Egypt.  The 5th Earl discovered the tomb of Tutankamun in 1922, see the exhibition that commemorates this historic event.
